There was this black guy sitting outside the supermarket. He tried to engage with me on my way in, but I ignored him. Upon exit, I tried to give him a beer. I had actually specifically gotten the beer just for him, because I figured he'd still be out there when I left.


But he refused, saying, "I'm not an alcoholic! I'm homeless."
