Six months to live - Ikiru - what would you do?
In Akira Kurosawa's Ikiru, a Japanese bureaucrat finds that he has six months to live, and struggles to find meaning before he is gone.
On a night of bohemian excess, he realizes quickly that this is not the answer.

But after devoting his last days to forcing the rejuvenation of a cesspool in a poor neighborhood to a beautiful park where children may play and adults may enjoy the scenery, he revisits the song Gondola No Uta ("Life is Brief') and dies content.
