    Default Promotional chips

In the old days, when I gambled more heavily (and such promotions were more prevalent), I used to obtain promotional chips, up the three thousand dollars worth at a time. These were chips that had no direct redeemable value, but that I could play with without placing any regular chips alongside them.

Promotional chips are good for one hand only - win or lose. Lose, obviously, the disappear. Win, you are paid with regular chips. So, play a hand with a hundred dollar promotional chip, win, and now you have $100. real dollars (in the form of a casino regular black $100. chip).

I've never had any luck with these chips in the past, by the time the casino handed them to me I was usually in a do or die mode, stuck in the hole pretty far, "chasing," and I ended up simply losing the promotional chips - fast.

For the first time since I resumed gaming in 2018, a casino is offering me promotional chips - the Palms is offering me $400. in promotional chips (plus the usual comp'ed suite, and free food), if we stay there before January 5th - essentially, a New Year's invitation. We may just take them up on it.

The offer mentions just $100. in food but my host there always comp's off all the food charges on my bill. Typically these types of offers are auto generated, just to get you in the door, and the host then upgrades you (if your play warrants it, as mine does), to the level befitting your play.

At the resort we are currently at, I have been offered a $500. promo chip plus $1000. shopping spree if we return late November. Given that we have now spent three weeks in Vegas, not sure we'll be up for returning so soon though.

We actually ended up staying so long in Vegas that I DID get to utilize this $1000. offer after all. The item just arrived at the maison recently.

Another offer just in. I have played at this casino once only, one trip, but a $250. promo chip offer just came in. Won't use it - won't be going back quite that soon. Have too much real world work to take care of first.

Looking back at other emails and mailings over the past year, there were other promotional chip offers from other casinos that I missed. I just don't care so much about all that - as long as I get full RFB, a nice suite, I'm fine. What matters to me besides the full comps ride is winning, and there has been a lot of that!
