Default Does how you play Baccarat matter?

By the way, if you don't think that the "way" you play matters in a game like Baccarat, you have never played it (or, never won at it).

A girl I met several trips ago has been flying out here LOSING every single trip. She's been ahead or close to even numerous trips, but ended each one busted, with nothing. LOSING on a solid dozen trips.

We exchanged numbers much earlier this year, and this year she timed her trip to coincide with mine. I was a little apprehensive about having her here as she's very beautiful (as is my wife, my wife is more beautiful actually), but I just didn't want to get into trouble having my wife think something is up. My wife never gambles though so I doubt they would ever run into each other. I was actually thinking of just having all three of us go to dinner, my wife is younger than this lady but I think they'd become friends.

Anyway, at the tables I analyzed her play and the main problem is that she has been more or less flat betting 100-200 almost all the the time, including on runs, including when the shoe is good. I'm not sure what she has been doing when the shoe is bad, I assume just betting a lot and going bust. But anyway, that was one obvious mistake she was making, flat betting. Another, is that she would plunk 100 on the tie bet, and then bet 100 on the bank or player at same time. Sure if she hit the tie, that's a net 700 ahead, but the chances of hitting the tie are much slimmer than winning bank/player, and this sort of play would give her at best her money back if she missed the tie and hit the bank or player bet. So I advised her there to either just bet the tie only, or at least 300 on the bank or player when betting 100 on the tie. Which over all, actually, with her bankroll she has no business on a 100 minimum table.

In any case though, she's now up nine grand I'm actually jealous she's up more than I am! at this casino anyway, although for the trip I am over double ahead her amount. Not saying that varying your bet, which is what I got her to do, is a guaranteed win, but flat betting is a guaranteed loser.

We're leaving to the other casino today, so she's on her own here, hope she keeps it up. I advised her to bank 4K and just play with 5K for rest of trip, so that worst case scenario she will end up 4K ahead.

My friend kept up with betting the silly Tiger bet and the tie bet most every hand, and dumped half of her winnings yesterday. She played on her own yesterday, I was not with her.

The Tiger bet in case you don't know is betting that the Bank will win with a 6, and pays 12:1 if a two card 6 winner, 20:1 if a three card 6 winner. It's bad bet not just because the house has a high edge on it, but because you're hoping that...what, you'll get a 6? Who wants a 6, when I play Baccarat I am hoping for san 8 or 9 every hand. Do I get an 8 or 9 every hand? No! But still, I'm not hoping to end up with something as low as a 6!
