Default Mdawg is a high roller who two years ago got back into it!

I used to gamble as a kid, I would run casinos in my bedroom and fleece the other kids for all their money. Somehow they'd all lose and the house (me) would always win, no matter what the game. I suppose I was born lucky because I have had that sort of luck all my life in most everything, money, power, women, over all...success at anything I put my hand to. Not without a series of hard knocks along the way, but being an optimist, nothing much has ever gotten me down, for long.

I started casino gambling in the 1990s, and had about a ten year run. I started off playing roulette, the Martingale doubling method, and this worked pretty well until one time after I'd won a thousand and didn't want to break a black chip for an intended $10. tip for the dealer, I put a single chip on black, and it came up red. Two chips (two hundred) on black, red again. Four hundred, eight hundred, finally I put the max (at that time) of a thousand on black, and lost that too. $2500. down the drain trying to win a ten dollar dip. I gave up on roulette, as well on any sort of "doubling the loss" method to play.

I switched to playing almost exclusively blackjack, where I counted the cards and kept track of the card flow, and pretty much won consistently until, in the late 1990s, I ended up banned from all Wynn casinos, which at that time meant Golden Nugget, Treasure Island, Mirage, and the Bellagio, which had opened by then. I was also starting to feel heat from other casinos.

I then switched to Baccarat, and had some of my biggest wins (and biggest losses) over the next years. There was one trip when I rallied from down around -$80k to a remaining bankroll of just $1500. to end up fully ahead over $400K. There were more than a few trips where I won over $100K. In those days my average bet was around $3000. I was eventually allowed to play BJ again, not so much because of any affirmative action on my part, but just because the casinos changed ownership (Wynn sold them all to MGM, who in turn sold the casino where I had been banned, the Golden Nugget, to yet another outfit), and I became friends with the Director of Table Games at one of the casinos, but even after the BJ ban was lifted I stuck mostly to Baccarat because I somehow liked it more than BJ and I was winning more at it than I ever had at BJ. But then there were also a couple of trips where I lost around $100K and I eventually didn't want to deal with the ups and downs, and gave up gambling entirely - I took about a decade hiatus. When I stopped, I was well ahead for the decade of play, not even counting all of the hundreds of thousands in comp'ed rooms, food, beverage, events, free trips and other perks.

When I returned, in 2018, I established credit lines ($50K each) that were as high as my highest in the old days, but decided that I was more interested in just playing for fun and free stuff ("comps") than to try to kill the house. I've been extremely successful since my return, haven't had a losing trip yet. These days I play mostly Baccarat but also double deck BJ.

I plan to post detailed trip logs, and other posts about Vegas and gambling in general in this sub-forum that MLeus was kind enough to create for me.

    Good luck! and happy gaming.
