Editors Won't Let It Be When It Comes to 'the' or 'The' - WSJ.com

This is a raging ongoing dispute, especially at Wikipedia, where a poll has been submitted to try and settle the issue.
Wikipedia talk:Requests for mediation/The Beatles - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The question is whether to capitalize the word "the" ("The?") in front of the word Beatles which, at least thank God, Everyone (everyone?) agrees should be Capitalized.

In my opinion, it should be the Beatles, primarily because the group is often referred to without the article adjective. For example, there are Beatles' songs. If the word Beatles were nonsensical on its own, there would never be Beatles' songs, but rather only The Beatles' songs. Simply because the word Beatles stands on its own, without any qualifier in front of it, tells me that the word "the" is just that - an article adjective used to point to a definite (particular) thing, and not part of the thing itself. Simple as that, I say.
