I hold a number of top tech stocks long term, such as AAPL going back to 2006-2007, AMZN since about the 400s, TSLA since about the 180s, NFLX since 2010, and many other both tech and blue chips. Life is good!

I also trade additional shares of the same stocks I hold long. Gotta be nimble, gotta be quick, but day/position trading has worked out well for me!

Today was a not so great day for AMZN, but I managed to clip 7 points out of two small trades at 300 shares each.

Do not get mixed up in crapola like this. Penny stocks are to be avoided!

What I'd like to see is a lot more bears prognosticating doom and gloom, then I'll feel more secure in expecting a move UP! in the markets.

Futures are holding up. So far anyway.

Booked a couple of extra grand on extra trading shares but would prefer to see AMZN get up there and stay up there, for the sake of my long term shares.

Been clipping a couple grand a day with minimal effort off AMZN on trades. Yesterday was a great day over all for both AMZN and TSLA - today both are struggling but currently off their lows.

MDawg
09-16-2020, 06:11 AM
NFLX is another one that needs to get back to the 550s.

MDawg
09-17-2020, 06:50 AM
Brutal day in markets, but I already clipped $3900. with ease off AMZN.

Two trades 2995 (bot in the pre-) to 3005, also 2983 to 2986. On that last one I pretty much got the low for the day, but oh well, played it safe, made a quick 3 pts left about thirty pts on the table!

Hello DarkOz from WOV. CYDY tankage, all the way down to as low as 3.06 Recovered somewhat it seems.
358
So you once again left a profit on the table, and instead let it drop all the way to staring down the barrel of another loss?

MDawg
09-17-2020, 08:31 AM
Caught the low again (damn! I'm good), for 7 pts this time. Sold much too early of course, but...safety first!

MDawg

Tsla is actually doing all right, keeping its head above 400 (adjusted 2000, pre-split). AMZN is the real killer, dropped 550 pts from its high.

Not so bad, could be worse.

You stated that you traded without spreads without a broker, whereas we can clearly see bid/ask price showing a spread on the AMZN share...........

MDawg
09-18-2020, 06:00 AM
There is always a bid/ask? What do you mean. These screenshots show the executed trade, and then the screenshot also happens to show whatever the bid ask is at the moment the screenshot is taken.

I may have said that I don't use a broker as in a human executing my trades on my behalf, but everyone whether using eTrade, TDAmeritrade or even RobinHood (never touch the stuff), uses a "broker." Brokers are crooks - when someone says that, he means that he does his own trades, is all.

MDawg
09-18-2020, 06:03 AM
TSLA doing quite well again (considering the downturn TSLA has been kicking a**). AMZN sucking again today. After we weed out the weak hands AMZN will go back up though.

Bago
09-18-2020, 06:03 AM
Ok, what technical indicator(s), what timeframe (1min,5min,15min....) do you use for your daytrading like the long position on the AMZN stock?.

MDawg
09-18-2020, 06:24 AM
It's interesting that you say that, because a friend of mine who used to trade far more than I ever did, used to say that the less intelligent, less thinking traders do better than the ones who overthink. I'd like to consider myself as a very intelligent, very thinking type, but honestly all I do is just look for the first big dip of the day and jump on it when I think it's gone low enough. Early in the trading day the stock has more "elasticity" is the term I give to when traders are still buying the hell out of the dips - later on, if the stock keeps dipping, it tends not to spring back up so quickly. So, it's not so much about buying at some mechanical pre-set price, but buying, as Jesse Livermore used to say, "when the price is right" - meaning, more accurately, "when the time is right." For example buying AMZN at 3020 today might be a better TRADING buy than later at 3000, if the stock is still being bot up at 3020, but at 3000 people are on the verge of giving up on it.

If the given stock is simply going up that day, not really dipping, then I generally don't even trade it at all, because all the stocks I trade such as AMZN I hold underlying long term long positions, so on the days it just flies up I just watch my long term shares go up.

So I, like millions of others, am a "buy the dip trader."

Yes there's a lot of technical stuff like charts, where the market is at, and so on at the back of my mind, but mostly I just jump on dips.

I am basically a bottom feeder scalper when it comes to trading, I try to buy well below whatever the low for the day has already been, and then let go for just a few points, generally not more than 10. I leave a lot of money on the table much of the time, but this sort of scalping also saves me from getting stuck in a losing trade.

One very unscientific but actually pretty sound trading principle is to look for when a given stock drops below a multiple of ten level. For example, AMZN dips below 3020, AMZN dips below 3010, AMZN dips below 3000...for whatever reason it is a well known phenomenon that these stocks hit support as they approach these multiples of ten, and then jump right back above that level, even if only briefly, if they dip a couple points below. A lot of traders jump on 2 points below that multiple of ten (e.g. 3018, 3008, 2998) but I try to go for even lower, more like 3 -5 points below...I miss a lot of trades but the I also get stuck less. But of course, if you're trying to do this jumping on each drop of 10 (so to speak) on a day when the stock is destined to drop 100, you'd better be nimble, or wait it out until the dust settles.

If I really get stuck, I wait until it has dropped quite a lot more, and then average in more shares and set a new sell price somewhere above the new averaged in price. I haven't had to average in any more shares on my trades in a while.

MDawg
09-18-2020, 06:29 AM
See like right now AMZN dipped to 2988 and then jumped to about 2995, just like a reflex. However in this instance a 2988 would not have been filled because it didn't quite get there. Some traders will jump all over just 1 point below that ten point level, in this case 2989.

Once it hits that new low though, I will not try to hit that same low again, I will go for even lower...take it or leave it.

So, given that the low for the day at the moment is 2988, I wouldn't touch it above 2985 right now for a scalping trade. And so it goes, as I try to bottom feed at new lows for the day. Eventually of course the stock will recover and my trying to get that low will get me nothing, but that's okay, I try to get high probability trades or nothing at all. I don't need to trade.

MDawg
09-18-2020, 06:42 AM
So I put in the order at 2984, bottom feeding, and got a partial fill only.
384
Once I got the partial I cancelled the balance to see what might be going on. As it turns out, I should have left it open, as the 3 pts I was seeking were more than there. A small trade, booked a few hundred, and on to the next.
359

MDawg
09-18-2020, 06:44 AM
Over all AMZN is out of favor at the moment, too many people (like me) seem to be trading it for quick gains and not holding on.

As you may see, my first trading idea of the day was to buy at 3018. I cancelled it, did not go through with it, but at the TIME that 3018 was an AWESOME idea as once it filled it popped up almost 10 pts. to 3028. Yes, looking at it now at 2979, 3018 looks terrible, but as a trade, at the TIME, that was a better trade than right now at 2979.

Bago
09-18-2020, 06:50 AM
You don't look at the stock prices during pre-market, only when the market is opened right?.

MDawg
09-18-2020, 07:04 AM
No I look at both, I sometimes do pre-market trades but not nearly as often as regular market trades. I'll sometimes do after hours trades on earnings days.

Lately though, at least with AMZN, the pre-market hasn't had anything to do with the later action...typically, I get what you're saying, the pre-market high is re-hit later during regular trading, but lately AMZN goes up and then just drops. Ironically, now is not a bad time to be shorting but the shorts will get their shorts handed to them soon enough.

MDawg
09-18-2020, 07:10 AM
Just did this one 2971 to 2972, had the original sell order in at 2974 but it dropped all the way to 2956 I think it was, so I bailed on the 3 pts idea and let it go for just 1 point.
362
I think I could have gotten the 2974, but even the 2972 barely filled before it dropped again, then went back to 2973. It's a tough market today, at least so far.

MDawg
09-18-2020, 07:18 AM
Lately I've been able to book at least a couple grand a day, if I book one thousand today I'll probably stop. Or switch to a different stock. I'd like to go for NFLX trading wise at 467 or so, TSLA below 440.

All I'm trying to do is net positive on little trades until the market recovers and brings my long terms back up to where they should be.

Bago
09-18-2020, 07:20 AM
on the 17th, AMZN stock lost 80 points pre-market, I believe this is the reason why you chose to trade it that day.

MDawg
09-18-2020, 07:24 AM
I just don't see AMZN staying this low today, it really should go back over 3000. But will it? Trading wise, I'd say that's a low probability trade to buy this one, today, on its way back up.

MDawg
09-18-2020, 07:24 AM
on the 17th, AMZN stock lost 80 points pre-market, I believe this is the reason why you chose to trade it that day.

Yes I think I remember that day...I jumped on it when I saw it down that much in the pre. Yes.

MDawg
09-18-2020, 07:27 AM
The stocks I trade the most: AMZN, GOOGL, TSLA, CMG, NFLX. I actually really don't trade much else come to think of it.

I hold these, and many other stocks, long term.

Bago
09-18-2020, 07:27 AM
So why would you want to trade TSLA today when the premarket formed an up gap from 423 to 448?

MDawg
09-18-2020, 07:42 AM
Well, for one, TSLA has a lot of strength lately versus AMZN that just keeps dropping daily. If I miscalculate and get stuck in a TSLA trade, probably just waiting until the next day would bring me back in the money. I'm not always a day trader, I'll also position trade sometimes over the course of days or even weeks.

Just did a third AMZN trade 2948 to 2951.07 So that's a grand for today, total between the 3 trades. Actually more like $1100.
363
I had some other ideas buying at at 2953, and 2951 but cancelled those and went bottom fishing. It worked out.

MDawg
09-18-2020, 07:45 AM
AMZN now 2944 this is ridiculous, actually, 600 pt drop for no real reason over the course of a week or two. Usually when a stock like AMZN drops that much, that fast, it recovers to a new ATH (all time high) but I guess a lot of people will need to get burned first.

MDawg
09-18-2020, 07:46 AM
It jumped from 2944 to 2951 just like that.

MDawg
09-18-2020, 07:48 AM
2957 now. Woulda loved to be in that action, but I made money today going LONG on a stock that dropped 60+ points...I do that all the time. It's easier for me to make money trading when a stock drops than when it goes up. When it goes up you keep thinking, how can it keep going up, but when it dips my mind always says it's gotta rebound, even if just temporarily.

MDawg
09-18-2020, 07:49 AM
2960. People are fed up with this dropping for no reason. :D

MDawg
09-18-2020, 09:17 AM
Did another one, fourth trade of the day, AMZN 2931 to 2933. I actually messed up I intended to enter 2934 but in the excitement I entered +2 instead of +3...I must have been thinking I entered at 2930.
365
This seems pretty oversold to me, even for a Friday with all these different types of options expiring.

MDawg
09-18-2020, 09:17 AM
So as you may see, you don't have to be a genius to do four trades and make money on all four, even on a stock that drops -75. Just very careful. I do this all the time...it's not that hard. I'd prefer for the stock to be rising though, and then I wouldn't feel compelled to day trade much at all.

MDawg
09-18-2020, 09:52 AM
Did a fifth trade, AMZN 2926 to 2927...had the original sell order in at 2929, and I should have stuck to my guns, but it dropped all the way to about 2905 first before coming back and paying me.
366
That's the thing about trading AMZN - traditional stop losses if you're buying on dips will almost always stop you out such that you'll lose money on the majority of your trades. It almost always first drops lower, then rebounds.

MDawg
09-18-2020, 09:56 AM
It's now 11am PST. I generally stop trading by now if not much earlier even. The early morning trades while the stock has its elasticity and people are still buying the h. out of dips, are usually easier - higher probability. Booked just under two grand. Unless I see something really good, I'm done for the day.

Two grand doesn't sound like much, given the dollar amount I put into each trade (about a million) but that's on a very hard day like today. Still, book ten grand a week and it adds up.

MDawg
09-18-2020, 05:52 PM
It was a rough week. Yes, I booked a fair amount trading, probably more than I would have during a green week, but the extra trading dollars did not by any means make up for the over all drop in my long terms.

MDawg
09-20-2020, 09:25 AM
Given that AMZN has dropped this far, this fast, and that even the lowest analyst target price is 2600, I see it rising from here, although it will inevitably dip to shake off some more shares along the way.

MDawg
09-21-2020, 06:12 AM
Traded some WYNN actually. AMZN dropping again after almost getting to green.

MDawg
09-21-2020, 08:10 AM
Toyed with some AMZN trade buys but cancelled them all out in favor of a TSLA trade, booked a K with great difficulty...was down as much as thirty six grand on that one before it came back.

MDawg
09-21-2020, 12:12 PM
Wow. My over all account went from an insane amount negative at the low of the morning to actually AHEAD a good sum for the day by the close. And it looks good in the A.H. too. Quite a turnaround. Let's hope it keeps up for the rest of the week.

The fools who sold into the weakness of the morning gave up their shares at the wrong time!

Typically this is the way it goes - sell offs turn on a dime, just as buying impetuses may also turn rapidly.

MDawg
09-22-2020, 09:23 AM
Booked the obligatory K in a quick TSLA trade
373
haven't done much else other than watch AMZN roar in tune to my long term AMZN shares. Been busy with other work.

MDawg
09-22-2020, 09:37 PM
Did another TSLA trade for another K near the bell.
374
If I'd held longer, would have made more initially, as TSLA was as much as +11 when I checked in the A.H., but then not long afterwards, it started tanking as people decided that the battery day news (https://www.truepassage.com/forums/showthread.php/12114-TSLA-stock?p=41200#post41200) was a downer and spelled more long term (too far forward thinking) success than anything tangible that they could bank today. But, I expect TSLA will recover some tomorrow after the news is digested, because over all, the future looks bright for TSLA.

MDawg
09-23-2020, 06:20 AM
Just one trade for $900. with AMZN so far today. Market is taking a breather after yesterday's nice run.
375

I had a 3063 buy order in on it but got busy with some other work and cancelled it. Should have left it open, as that was the low for the day so far and it bounced really nicely from there.

The next new low might be 3058, but I am hoping that the entire market shifts to green later in the day.

MDawg
09-23-2020, 06:23 AM
TSLA is actually holding up not so badly, not dropping much past -25 anyway.

MDawg
09-23-2020, 10:30 AM
Everything has dropped considerably today.

I did another trade with AMZN, bot in at 3035 got a partial fill only for 140 shares. When that happens I usually cancel out the rest of the shares and wait...AMZN ending up dropping so I averaged in another 140 shares @ 3018 and bailed on the trade at 3027 for a half point profit just to get out.
376377

I assume I could have gotten a lot more out of this trade later, but as it gets closer to the bell I usually want to close out trades that are out of the money soon after they come back into the money. Can't go broke taking a profit.

MDawg
09-24-2020, 06:09 AM
Booked a quick K (and left over twenty on the table) with TSLA.
378
Toyed with some AMZN trades but was too cheap and none were filled, so I cancelled those out.

MDawg
09-24-2020, 12:00 PM
After the TSLA trade I got busy with other work and just left the market alone, but then decided to jump into AMZN with a few hundred shares for a quick trade 3026 to 3028 on a dip. Wow - next thing you know the stock tumbled to 2995! and I was staring down the barrel of a ten grand loss. I woulda had to concede that MDawg lost on a trade! :apathy:

BUUT NO! that turned out not to be necessary. I haven't checked yet to see what prompted the markets but allasudden we ROARED from red as may be DOW and Nasdaq all the way back into the solid green.

I did get tricked into lowering my sell into a "let's get the hell out at a profit 3026.1" but, remarkably, and nonetheless, I made it! The alternative would have been to either book a day trading loss, or hold past today.
381

And that's the way MDawg do - always booking dem winners!

MDawg
09-24-2020, 12:05 PM
Let's see what happened on the CYDY front.

We're rolling pretty well today. I had a couple of bottom fishing AMZN orders in at 3135 and 3127 but I cancelled them out...shouldn't have. I tend to just watch my long terms go up versus trade on days like this. If we get some good dips later I might trade some.

MDawg
09-28-2020, 08:42 AM
Shucks I was bored so I booked about twelve hunny on a couple of quick trades. I was spooked out of 2 pts on the first trade but I still booked 1.

MDawg
09-29-2020, 07:09 AM
Kept putting in lower and lower bids and then cancelling them out, then caught the low for the day for AMZN. So low...that out of my 300 share bid only 23 were filled, a partial. How'd he do dat? MDawg got the low for the day? I do that ALL the time - I get the low or close to the low of a given stock I trade constantly.

Let it go for just 5 pts, a quick hunsky ($115. actually), but a profit's a profit. I have other work to do today I might not get to the market quite as much but whatever I do, it will be profitable.
403

MDawg
09-29-2020, 09:53 AM

CMG was a good trade today. I hold that one very long term. But today, trading it would have been pretty easy it was an obvious easy buy below 1250. Now 1265.

MDawg
09-29-2020, 08:41 PM
I ended up doing a third trade 3145 to 3149 before AMZN dumped to the 3130s (and recovered again), to book to sum total obligatory K for the day.
407

MDawg

Grump's story, what with his catching coronavirus, now looks like a Sophoclean tragi comedy.

But the question is, how will the markets react? Went from -500 to around -350 already on DOW futures. Perhaps the markets will view this as good news that the election results will now be certain and no longer contested. I mean let's face it, if Grump weren't history already he certainly is now.

As I wrote months ago, Everyone in the know knows that Grump is finished.

Politically speaking the problem is that Grump lies through his teeth.
Trump experiencing mild symptoms after coronavirus diagnosis
(https://www.cnbc.com/2020/10/02/trump-experiencing-mild-symptoms-after-coronavirus-diagnosis.html)Unless he ends up on a ventilator, and even then, Kim Jong Un style he might just disappear from view and pretend to be okay, we might not know how bad it is unless he dies. Until we have some clarity the market is going to be jittery.

As soon as we hear that Biden tested negative that should calm the markets somewhat.

MDawg
10-04-2020, 08:34 AM

Did a little trading last week, all good. Nothin heavy.

Today did an AMZN from 3221 to 3223 before it collapsed, and another from 3178 to 3182.

Market will roar once Grump is booted out of office.

Since CMG collapsed the other evening post-earnings (guidance didn't look good) been trading it successfully daily. Today I had to average in - 1315 and 1302, sold at 1310. Cha'ching!

MDawg

AMZN pretty strong today, making a comeback from yesterday's over all market drop. However, it all depends on how earnings and guidance come in AFTER the bell.

MDawg
11-02-2020, 05:23 PM
AMZN dumped even after great earnings, mostly because it did not provide any Guidance. It should recover soon enough though.

On the eve of Election Day the market seems to have priced in a Biden victory.

MDawg

Futures looking green and looking to carry on last week's Biden rally. Lol looks like Grump was dead wrong about "Elect Biden and the market will crash."

Still doing some trading even while away. Booked an easy ten points on AMZN, 3075 to 3085, left a lot on the table but still a nice trade.

Doing some active trading again. AMZN 3176 to 3181.

Then got stuck in some at 3161, average in at 3131, sold 3147. Ole!

Did a couple quick AMZN trades today, 3181 to 3186, and 3178 to 3181. It's much higher now, but can't look back. My long term AMZN shares would like this to be back over 3400, and stay there this time!

12-10-2020, 10:14 AM
Yesterday the market sold off and I got stuck in a TSLA day trade at 621 (after booking a few prior trades with no problem). Extra shares on top of my long term, you quite understand.

I was going to average in more shares in the pre, but ended up just leaving it alone. I entered a take it or leave it sell order at 623, and surprisingly, it filled! It's lower now but still above six hunny, which is good for my long term shares.

I expect it to hit 700 within a couple weeks. Cha'ching!

Meantime, STAY ON TARGET with those long term shares. 700 coming.

MDawg
12-14-2020, 06:34 AM
Did a quick 615 to 618 TSLA trade.

On my long term TSLA shares, I'm looking for 700. Stay on target!

Some profit taking on AMZN today. Should get back into the 3210s by end of day though.

Meantime, TSLA marches up and onwards!

12-18-2020, 07:47 PM
I did a couple AMZN trades today no big deal, easy money 5 points each but then got stuck at 3215. I figured, well this one I will need to hold, as it went down as low at 3175 or so. I did not average in.

It made a mighty run back up though all the way to 3201 at the close, I entered a sell order for 3216, to my surprise it eventually filled, and then added another 12+ points in the A.H.! to close at 3229. Impressive.

TSLA is experiencing a "sell the news" situation. Pushed almost to 700 on anticipating of inclusion into the S&P 500. I believe that retail buyers took it up to those heights, and that now after retail sells off, institutions will swoop in to buy and take it back towards a new high of maybe 800.

I try not to get out of bed before booking at least a K.

In keeping with my bottom feeder tradition, today, I booked far more than a K today:
TSLA 624 - 627
AMZN 3185 - 3188
CMG 1413 - 1416

Sold myself short on all three trades, but money is money!

Just a couple quick NFLX trades, just for half the usual shares, in case the bottom falls out of the market today.

As I have said, I don't like to get out of bed until I've booked at least a K!

As usual, sold too soon, but bottom feeding leads to very high probability trades.

Grump is OUT.

Up a half million on my long terms today, maybe close to a record.

I did two trades already, 3315 and 3255, sold those combined at 3287 for a small profit.

Third trade, was trying to buy at 3265

https://youtu.be/o7604qHhk7w

eventually filled, and sold those shares quickly at 3270.
628

The basic idea...for me, as far as trading, is BOTTOM FISHING. When I set this at 3265 AMZN was trading about ten points higher. And 3265 represented, in my mind, a safe entry point given the prior action. Sometimes I will set it for a point below the lowest print of the day, but today I didn't anticipate quite a double bottom.

Anyway it worked out fine - Eventually filled, and I sold quickly at 3270. Too soon, but with the market the way it is today, a quick five points is better than risking ten or twenty.
Goal is to book at least a grand a day, and have been able to manage that pretty easily lately. However the market is iffy lately so I am buying AMZN in 100 share lots versus my usual 300 at a time.

These are additional trading shares on top of my long term AMZN.
LIFO!

MDawg
01-27-2021, 11:32 AM
Another quick five hunny for the final trade of the day. This is what I mean by it's easier to trade on down days than up. Up days, sometimes all I do is watch my long terms rise and not trade at all. With major dips come major opportunity...but you must be nimble! (and not greedy).

I did a quick 815 to 825.

01-28-2021, 05:13 AM

And that's the thing though - this kind of UNPREDICTABLE volatility could lead people to lose money on BOTH sides today, long and short.

I don't think anyone is going down for this though in terms of criminal prosecution. I mean these Reddit kids all they did was just tell each other to, BUY! right? They didn't make up any lies about the stock, as far as I know. Just a group of people who banded together to try to support a stock. As long as whoever instigated it disclosed that he held a position, I don't see a violation of law.

Groups of people band together all the time to buy stocks, with varying success. During the first days of the crash of 1929, that is exactly what groups tried to do, prop up the failing market with pockets of buying, but...it didn't work, at least not for longer than a very short time.

Today, whatever trades I have tried to enter got stuck in the queue. Never opened! Stupid, sluggish, system today.

I had GME at 265 on its first big dip, coulda made twenty points, and TSLA at 798 for another good trade. Today, and January 27th, this stock trading platform have been unacceptable sluggish, or not even working. This is not acceptable.

This is not acceptable. All trades I place are simply getting queued and not opening. I am testing the system now with deliberately below market trades - none will open. This, and then on the 27th couldn't even access the account. So, when they sit there in the queue forever, I just cancel them in case I get placed into a position without even knowing it.

Chat won't even work, and no one will answer the phone at the brokerage, and I am a high level account with a dedicated broker, and still can't get through.

MDawg
02-01-2021, 07:06 AM
Okay both are working now.

I missed a lot of good trades though. On the other hand, if I had entered a position and not been able to close it, I would have lost a lot. For example with GME, if I had filled at 265, I could have sold quickly at 285. However if I had been placed in the trade, and then gotten stuck, it also dropped all the way to 213 or so where it was halted, and is now 235.

If my TSLA trade at 798 had filled, and it should have, I'd be sitting pretty now though, regardless.

With trading a few minutes or sometimes even seconds may make a huge difference.

Booked over 30 points buying extra shares of AMZN and CMG long on dips. Rebounded nicely each time - if anything, sold too soon.

My designated broker account rep at one of my accounts called me today to apologize for the issues lately. He said that it's all due to overloaded servers and such. He said that if I am ever locked out of a trade to call him or at least message him and he will put me into the trade. Sounds good in theory - but when such events are transpiring typically it is impossible to get through to the brokerage at all, and by the time I could get through the stock price might be such that I wouldn't want to be in the trade any longer.

It's interesting to note the lows of the day - in the morning - on days like this. Who is selling into that weakness? Obviously some of those are the 90% who lose on trading in general. By the end of the day they must be feeling pretty stupid.

Started doing AMZN trades again now that AMZN dropped from the 3700s to 3500s. It's safer to trade it in this range to avoid getting caught in a sudden downturn from an ATH.

My long term AMZN is loving it though, even if not at an ATH.

The actual average range is an oscillator that uses complex mathematical formulas to calculate. But the actual capacity can be obtained in a similar way for any time interval. This will give the amount that the instrument has moved over that period. Then is calculated as an exponential moving average of the actual ranges for several periods. For forex traders and stock traders, this is usually. The image below shows how the ATR indicator is displayed as a single curved line below the candles on the trading platform. The number in the upper left corner of the indicator also shows us the average amount by which the instrument moves over a while on the chart.
