Pays 8:1. Of course this has an abysmal house edge - around fourteen percent versus around just one percent for a straight bet on banker or player. It should be played rarely, if at all.

However, there are some shoes where a pattern is repeated for the tie, where it keeps coming up on the same line. I don't refer to the casino's computer screen that prompts you to bet tie - that screen is sometimes on target but more often than not, of no value. Just as there as some Baccarat shoes that follow a discernible, repeating pattern (whether a horizontal chop, or a vertical streak, or anything that repeats), there are some shoes where the tie repeats in predictable spots.

I rarely bet the tie bet, but the times that I have bet it, I have hit it more often than not, to the tune of about a 25% success rate. Put it this way, I have won $24,000. on the tie before (betting $3000.) - exactly three times. And, I have bet it only three times. I have won $12,000. on the tie before. And bet it only once at that level ($1500.). When I say something like, "I'm feeling the tie bet so much it's crazy," it always seems to fall. Of course, when I say that it's not just based on "feeling" but on that the tie is repeating in a discernible way on my manual scorecard that I fill out on every shoe.

Should the average player bet the tie in Baccarat? No. But are there times when it has a higher probability to hit? Yes.
